Austin Applegate is a portfolio manager in the Fixed Income Division. He manages the California Tax-Free Bond Fund, the institutional separately managed accounts in the US Municipal Long-Term Bond Strategy, and the Summit Municipal Income Fund. Austin is a member of the Investment Advisory Committees for the State Tax-Free Bond Funds, the Summit Municipal Funds, Inc., the Short-Term Bond Fund, and the Tax-Free Short-Intermediate Fund. He also is an Investment Advisory Committee member of the Ultra Short-Term Bond Fund. Austin is a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., and T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc.
Austin's investment experience began in 2004, and he has been with T. Rowe Price since 2011, beginning in the Fixed Income Division as a municipal credit analyst. After that, he became an associate portfolio manager, and in 2020 he assumed his current role. Prior to this, Austin was employed by Barclays Capital in New York in the municipal credit group. He also worked on the high-grade fixed income research team at Lehman Brothers, Inc.
Austin earned a B.A. in mathematical economics from Wesleyan University; an M.S. in accounting from the University of Hartford; and an M.B.A. from Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business. Austin also has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
