Comfortable with the uncomfortable
Following generally positive results in early 2021, global capital markets were hit by several negative surprises in the second half, including worries about peaking economic growth, fading fiscal and monetary stimulus, and worries about stagflation amid global supply chain bottlenecks.
Although the earnings outlook appears positive across most global regions, the fading of fiscal and monetary stimulus efforts means further equity gains are likely to become even more dependent on upside momentum in earnings growth.
