FACTSHEET
KID
31-Jan-2020 - Steven Boothe, Portfolio Manager,
We have a mixed outlook for global investment grade corporate bonds. Accommodative central banks and favourable supply dynamics should continue to support markets. However, corporate fundamentals are deteriorating, while profit expectations appear optimistic, in our view. Further, the flight to safety highlights how cautious investors have become since the coronavirus outbreak, and the knock-on economic impacts could potentially become a meaningful drag on risk assets.

Fund Summary
In constructing the portfolio, we seek to balance high-conviction positions with sensitivity to sovereign and liquidity risk. A proprietary, independent credit rating is assigned to all issuers and securities. We carry out a deep analysis of each issuer’s market share, management team quality, and financial strength. The promotion of environmental and/or social characteristics is achieved through the fund's commitment to maintain at least 10% of the value of its portfolio invested in Sustainable Investments, as defined by the SFDR. Additionally, we apply a proprietary responsible screen (exclusion list). The manager is not constrained by the fund’s benchmark, which is used for performance comparison purposes only.

31-Oct-2024 - Steve Boothe, Portfolio Manager,
Global investment-grade corporate bonds registered a negative total return in October as measured by the Bloomberg Global Aggregate Corporate Index. Sovereign yields rose over the period as stronger-than-expected inflation and labour data led investors to lower their expectations for interest rate cuts in the US and political uncertainty surrounding the upcoming US election applied further pressure. As a result, global investment-grade corporate bonds saw negative total returns. Credit spreads fell to their tightest levels in the year to date, driving positive excess returns. Within the portfolio, security selection contributed to results, aided by our choices in the utility and banking sectors. Asset allocation added relative value, boosted by our positions in foreign government-related debt. Interest rate management also hindered performance over the period.
