SFDR DISCLOSUR
31-Oct-2024 - Scott Solomon, Co-Portfolio Manager,
Expectations for US interest rate cuts appear less elevated now but could be reduced further. The new US administration’s policies could also prove inflationary. Investors continue to contend with various global factors, including a slowing Chinese economy. We remain confident about US near-term growth and maintain a liquid profile in order to adapt to changes.

Overview

Fund Summary
We take a flexible approach to fixed income, integrating our high-conviction views on countries, interest rates and yield curves as well as credit security selection. We aim to find a balance between core, return-seeking and defensive positions, seeking to anchor performance in times of market stress. The promotion of environmental and/or social characteristics is achieved through the fund's commitment to maintain at least 50% of the value of its portfolio invested in issuers and/or securities that are rated as ‘Green’ by the T. Rowe Price proprietary Responsible Investor Indicator Model (RIIM). Additionally, we apply a proprietary responsible screen (exclusion list). The manager is not constrained by the fund’s benchmark, which is used for performance comparison purposes only.

31-Oct-2024 - Scott Solomon, Co-Portfolio Manager,
Global government bonds produced negative returns in October, as US jobs and inflation data surprised to the upside leading to lowered expectations for interest rate cuts. Within the portfolio, our short US duration position was notably positive as yields rose markedly. Our long exposure to US and European breakeven inflation was helpful as inflation data was higher than expected and oil prices rose. In currency, our long holdings in the British pound and Australian dollar detracted as they weakened against the stronger US dollar amid risk aversion. The pound was pressured by a downside inflation surprise and concerns around the UK budget announcement. Sector allocation and security selection were marginally negative. Security selection in US investment-grade corporate bonds and our exposure to U.S. securitised credit and government-related bonds dragged, as they were impacted by rising yields, although our security selection in US and euro high yield added value.
